Band Assignments for Nov 6-11

Band Assignments for 11/12:

 

Beginning Band - Red Book: Review 96 (Concert F Major Scale) and practice #94 (Barcarolle) and 97 (Sailor's Song) for the recital as well as "Amazing Grace" and "Beauty and the Beast".  May also review 102 - 108 from the Red Book.

 

Intermediate Band - Blue Book: Practice "Joyeux Noel" (Joyful Noel) on p. 7 for the recital as well as "Beauty and the Beast" and "Amazing Grace".  May also review 2, 6, & 9 - 14 from the Blue Book.

 

Advanced Band - Green Book: Practice "Rejouissance" on p. 20 for the recital as well as "Beauty and the Beast"and "Amazing Grace".  May also review 78 - 81 from the Green Book.

Christmas Recital and Party

We have a slight change in our schedule for November.  We will not meet on November 19, due to Thanksgiving week.  We will have regular class on November 26 to prepare for the recital, which will take place on Dec 3 at 10am.  We will have our recital from 10-11am and conclude with a party from 11am-12pm.  Please plan to bring a snack and drink to share.  We will have an ornament exchange and everyone, including siblings and parents can participate. We are asking that everyone brings an ornament to share.  Please don't spend more than $5 on the ornament!  We will need two parents to help set-up for the party in the Lockridge Fellowship Hall (where the band normally meets).  If you can help, please let me know!  Strings students will not perform this day.

Important Info for Band Members - Nov 26

On November 26, the band classes will adhere to the following schedule to prepare for the recital on Dec 3.

Beginner Band - 10am
All Band Members - 10:30am-12pm
Intermediate Band - 12pm

No Classes October 8 (Columbus Day)

We will not have classes on Columbus Day (October 8).  Please make sure that you complete your homework assignments if you are in band.

Christmas Concert/Recital Date

Due to our small numbers this fall, we will not be having a large concert for Christmas.  We will, instead, be having a small concert/recital on the last day of class, November 26.  The band classes will perform at 11am.  The Strings students will perform at 11:30am, and Elementary Music and Chamber Choir will perform at 12pm.  Families are asked to bring a snack to share, as we will have a light reception at 12:30pm in the Lockridge Fellowship Hall.  All groups will perform in the Lockridge Sanctuary.  Art students can bring some of their favorite projects to display during the reception.

Classes Begin Monday!

Classes begin Monday at McKendree UMC in the Lockridge Buildings.  T-shirts will be available in the Lockridge FH, if you have not already received one.  We look forward to meeting our new students and welcoming our returning families!

New Location!

Grace Notes has a new location!  We will be having classes at McKendree UMC in the Lockridge Bldgs, located up the hill from the main church.  These buildings have their own entrance right off of Lawrenceville-Suwanee Rd in Lawrenceville!  Please see the website at www.gracenoteshsc.com for directions and an updated schedule with class locations.

Ch-ch-ch-changes!!!

Grace Notes is moving and our new location will be announced next week.  Don't worry...we will still be in Gwinnett, but our new location will probably be more convenient for a lot of students!  Please check the website for our new schedule.  We have had to cancel some classes due to low enrollment and move some others around a little bit.  We hope that the changes will not affect our students too much.  If you have any concerns, please don't hesitate to email us at gracenotesinfo@gmail.com

We will be holding placement auditions and registration at McKendree UMC on August 13 from 10am-1pm.  We will be in the Lockridge Bldg (old church up the hill from the main bldg).

Registration Deadline Approaching!

The deadline to register for classes is August 13 from 10am-1pm.  Registrations will be accepted in person on this date.  Please note that registration and auditions will NOT be held at Calvary Baptist.  The location for this will most likely be McKendree UMC, but exact information will be posted by August 4.

Certain classes may be cancelled due to low enrollment.  Classes will be confirmed and a posted on August 17.  If a class that you have registered for is cancelled, you will be notified immediately and will be given a refund for what you have already paid for that particular class.

Grace Notes is currently looking for a new location that is more centrally located within Gwinnett to better serve those coming from north Gwinnett and Hall counties.  Exact information will be posted before September 1.
